Poles, Germans and Russians together
Coming June 2005 - We Can Work It Out
Starting the process of freeing ourselves from prejudice and stereotypes
Pacific Institute Europe is organizing a conference that aims to bring the people of Germany, Russia and Poland more closely together.
Our work is based on the premise that intellectual understanding of our past and present is not enough to create the necessary changes that bring people and countries closer together. What is needed is the furthering of emotional closeness between the people of these countries.
Given their strong cultural ties, all three countries would benefit greatly if their people would feel better about each other. The benefits in terms of cultural, business, intellectual, scientific and human exchange would be significant.
This conference will face commonplace stereotypes, prejudices, dislikes, even covert and overt hatred, directly.
In the presence of psychologists and psychotherapists, skilled in large group facilitation, this conference aims to create a safe container in which it will be possible to:
learn to look at stereotypes that govern our perceptions,
learn to express our prejudices and fears directly,
learn to acknowledge feelings that underline our attitudes,
learn to validate our differences,
learn to find what connects us,
learn to search together for solutions to the local problems of our part of Europe,
learn to work together to face the challenges of our contemporary world.
